OSC at Your School

Affordable, inclusive care delivered to your school.

BGC Strathcona County offers Out of School Care Programs for kids in kindergarten through grade 6, throughout rural and urban Strathcona County. We currently have eight locations, but the need for affordable, high-quality, and inclusive child care exceeds what we can serve. We are looking for more school partnerships to provide out-of-school care to more children and families in our community.

Why Partner with BGC

BGC Strathcona County brings a proven, high-quality OSC model that prioritizes safety, inclusion and healthy child development.

Our programs focus on creating safe and welcoming environments for participants and programming options that support social, emotional and physical development. Our trained staff provide exceptional care, while building strong relationships with members and their families.

BGC Out-of-School Care:

  • Aligns with school values and culture.
  • Reduces administrative burdens for schools.
  • Manages staffing, licencing and program operations.
  • Provides quality, in-school care for the entire community.

Partnering with BGC allows your school to offer a trusted, community-based care option for families, delivered by an established and experienced non-profit organization.

The benefits of being a BGC-branded school

Our partnership will help you meet the needs of your students and families while ensuring that programming is affordable, high-quality, and inclusive for everyone.

The Boys and Girls Club is a nationally recognized brand, and we provide consistent quality standards across all our programs. BGC Strathcona County has served this community for over 25 years! When you partner with us, you’ll build confidence and trust with families while gaining access to BGC resources, training, licensed programs, and successful program models.

We strive to provide safe, supportive environments where children and youth can find encouragement, community, mentorship, learn new things and discover meaningful opportunities. Partner with BGC, and extend that mission to the children and families at your school.

How Schools Partner with BGC

For your school to be a good fit for the BGC OSC program, you’ll need:

  • Designated space for programming.
  • Access to basic storage and washroom facilities.
  • Available recreation space (a gym and a classroom).

Our process and the next steps:

  1. We’ll have an initial conversation with the division and school administration.
  2. BGC will walk through your school and assess the space.
  3. We’ll review licensing requirements and school capacity to ensure BGC has a sufficient ratio allowance in your space to grow.
  4. We’ll run a pre-registration to gauge interest in your school and the community. This gives us an idea of staffing required and allows us to set an opening date.
  5. BGC will apply for and obtain approvals from the Strathcona County health, fire, and planning & development departments.
  6. BGC will begin staffing, training, and onboarding for the OSC program.
  7. We’ll run an open house, handle school and family communication, and set up the registration process.
  8. Then the program is launched, and we monitor it continually for quality assurance.
